All the Broken Pieces
Review: Bui Doi or dust of life, is the name given to children of the Vietnam War.  Their fathers are US soldiers and their mothers are young South Vietnam women. Matt is one of these children.  He has been adopted by an American family after being evacuated from Vietnam at the end of the war. His thoughts are trapped in flashbacks of the horrors that he experienced.  He must navigate his new life in an American family, playing baseball and piano while his teammates harass him for being Vietnamese.

All the Broken Pieces is a heartfelt story. The characters are interesting and emotional. This book is sad but also hopeful as Matt makes friendships with people he used to not like. Overall this is a good book that teaches you about the heart-breaking consequences of the Vietnam War. I recommend All the Broken Pieces.
