Title: It’s Trevor Noah: Born a Crime Adapted for Young Readers
Author: Trevor Noah
Genre: Autobiography
Rating: 5/5
Review: In this autobiography, comedian Trevor Noah tells his story of how apartheid impacted his childhood in South Africa. The reason for Trevor Noah being “born a crime” is because he is mixed race. During aparteid it was illegal for a mixed race child to simply exist. Through Trevor Noah’s humorous and honest accounts of his childhood you will learn about his personal story and the horrors of apartheid. This incredible book made me laugh out loud numerous times. One example was when Trevor was young he pooped on the floor of his house and his family thought the house was inhabited by a demon! Besides enjoying the humor, I found that reading this made me feel frustrated that other kids don't have the same privileges and opportunities as me.
Trevor Noah keeps the reader's attention with his funny anecdotes while teaching us about the injustices of apartheid. I highly recommend this book to ages 10 and up.
